Topping-out ceremony for the new
Product Technology Centre (PTC) at FreiLacke
A significant milestone for a forward-looking construction project at the headquarter in Döggingen
With the topping-out ceremony, FreiLacke has reached another significant milestone in the construction of the new Product Technology Centre (PTC). Numerous guests from the trades, the architectural sector and the project team gathered to mark the successful completion of the structural work.
The event was opened by Managing Director Dr Rainer Frei, who emphasised the importance of the new building for the company’s future. The PTC will form the technical heart of FreiLacke and bring together state-of-the-art development, application and training facilities under one roof. “With this topping-out ceremony, we can look back on a project that has run smoothly so far. The excellent work of the tradespeople, the high quality of the workmanship and strict adherence to the schedule form the basis for our ability to commission our Product Technology Centre as planned in spring 2027,” says Dr Rainer Frei. The traditional topping-out speech was delivered by Mr Lonscha from the structural engineering firm Stumpp in Rottweil, which successfully carried out the structural work.
The construction project is now moving on to the next phase as planned. Work on the interior fit-out, as well as on the façade, windows and doors, began back in July 2026. Completion of the new Product Technology Centre is scheduled for April 2027. The construction project is therefore on schedule.
Functional layout for development, application and knowledge transfer
The three-storey building brings together development, application technology, product presentation and customer training in a modern working environment:
- Ground floor:Application technology for powder and liquid coatings using state-of-the-art application processes. In future, the concept of system coatings can also be taught here in a practical manner, as powder and liquid coatings can be applied at a single location for the first time. This means that technical customer training courses can be made even more practical and illustrative.
- First floor: Development laboratories for water-based and solvent-based liquid coatings,
as well as for PG composite systems. - Second floor: Spacious training and meeting area for customer events, seminars and
professional exchange.
With its new Product Technology Centre (PTC), FreiLacke is creating the ideal conditions for integrating development, application technology, product presentation and customer service even more closely. State-of-the-art laboratory and application technology form the basis for meeting the growing demands placed on research, development and practical customer training.
With this forward-looking investment, FreiLacke is strengthening its headquarter in Döggingen and creating a centre of excellence where customers can experience and test innovative coating solutions under real-world conditions, and further develop them in collaboration with the paint manufacturer’s experts. The PTC was announced as a strategic investment in the future of the company and its customers as early as the ground-breaking ceremony.
