What are industrial paints?

Industrial coatings are special paint and coating systems used in industry to protect the surfaces of products, machines and equipment from environmental influences and to enhance their appearance. Unlike conventional paints, industrial paints meet high standards in terms of durability, chemical and weather resistance, and corrosion protection. They are used in a variety of applications. Depending on the requirements profile and area of application, there are different types of industrial paints that are tailored to the respective needs and properties.

Powder coatings

Our powder coatings produce functional and visually perfect coatings in steel and light metal construction. In other industries, such as vehicle and machine construction, powder coatings also provide high-quality, durable sealed surfaces. Thanks to material utilisation of up to 99%, powder coatings are extremely economical. For a long time, powder coatings could only be used on metallic, i.e. electrostatically chargeable surfaces for technical reasons. Now, however, non-metallic materials can also be finished and sealed with powder coatings from FreiLacke.

Electrocoat paints

FreiLacke electrocoatings are a special type of industrial coating that is applied using an electrostatic dipping process. This process enables uniform coating, even in hard-to-reach areas, and ensures high surface quality. The paints not only offer excellent corrosion protection, but also high resistance to chemicals and weathering. FreiLacke products require a curing temperature that is 30 °C lower, which means significant energy savings in the curing process.

Composites

From seat shells and vehicle add-on parts to power distribution boxes and rotor blades – the triumph of GRP and CFRP plastics has been unbroken for decades, and the possible applications continue to grow. This is probably due to the major advantages of these glass or carbon fibre-reinforced composites: they are lightweight, extremely durable, water-, cold- and heat-resistant, and can be moulded into almost any shape. In addition to a wide range of coating materials for surfaces, the Black Forest-based industrial paint manufacturer FreiLacke now also offers components for the production of parts.

Unser Our system coating concept

Our core competence is the system coating concept. It enables optimal solutions for various applications. With our vertical system coatings, different coating systems, such as electrocoating, powder coating or liquid coating, are combined to form a multi-layer coating structure. With our horizontal system coatings, we combine different coating systems to coat various components made of the same or different materials, depending on customer requirements. This creates a harmonious overall appearance.

Industrial paints for every application directly from the manufacturer

In many areas that are used on a daily basis, we experience innovative industrial coating solutions from FreiLacke.

In the construction and sanitary sector, industrial paints are used to coat window and door profiles, façades, metal or concrete structures, and to paint sanitary fittings or shower walls.

Industrial paints are also used in functional furniture. Hospital beds, for example, must be highly resistant to chemicals and disinfectants to enable hygienic cleaning.

In mechanical and plant engineering, industrial paints are used to coat gearboxes and housings. In these environments in particular, paints must be able to withstand extreme conditions such as enormous heat build-up.

In vehicle manufacturing, industrial paints are used to coat car bodies, wheel rims and other components, while in the rail vehicle sector they are used to coat carriage bodies, locomotives and bogies.

They are also indispensable in the field of wind turbines, protecting everything from the foundation to the tower, nacelle and hub to the rotor blades from the effects of weather and thus ensuring the longevity of the turbines.

Industrial paints not only provide decorative coatings for interior components in rail vehicles, but also offer protection for technical coatings in exterior areas.
