Groundbreaking Ceremony
for the
New Product Technology Center (PTC) at FreiLacke
Start of a Pioneering Construction Project at the Döggingen Site
With the ceremonial groundbreaking ceremony, FreiLacke officially kicked off construction of its new Product Technology Center (PTC). The three-story building, featuring state-of-the-art laboratory and application technology, is being built within the factory premises and is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in early 2027.
The PTC will become the technical heart of the company: In addition to spacious laboratories for development, a modern technical center and a central training center will be built. There, customers can not only receive practical training but also experience and test the use of FreiLacke’s coating systems using the latest application technology.

Background & Motivation
With the new building, FreiLacke is responding to the growing demands in product development and customer support. Technical center space previously spread across various buildings will be consolidated, while simultaneously efficiently meeting the growing demand for customer training. The PTC will also create additional office and laboratory space and resolve existing capacity bottlenecks.
Architecture & Project Details
The building will be constructed on a footprint of approximately 550 m² per floor and will comprise three floors plus a technical building. Its architecture is modeled on FreiLacke’s administrative building and will be fully barrier-free – including an elevator and a connection to the existing laboratory building, which will also be barrier-free in the future.
Sustainability is a priority in the planning:
- State-of-the-art, energy-efficient building services with heat pump technology
- Energy integration with existing buildings for minimal energy consumption increases despite additional space
- Implementation of current ecological standards
